Ceija Stojka
"Ceija Stojka (1933 - 2013) was an Austrian-Romani writer, painter and musician, survivor of the Holocaust... Ceija Stojka survived the Holocaust, but these never forgettable experiences become a central and eternal theme of her artistic work since 1989. Her paintings reflect upon the entrenched sorrow in the bodies and spirit of the victims. There are some books and film which are capturing her life. She was a charismatic author and she wrote the first Roma autobiographical account on the Nazi persecution. The book was published in 1988 with the title “We Live in Seclusion:The Memories of a Romni”' (romanielders.org).
Marika Schmiedt
Artist's Statement: "As Amnesty International continually reports, the Roma people are located in-between borders, in bureaucratic, social, and political no-man’s lands, where they are persecuted, often homeless and without education or political protection. My project aims to expose the racist undercurrents that perpetuate this situation, and continue to create divisions between non-Roma and Roma. Because most Roma have no access to any platforms of representation, my work as a artist offers an important and largely unheard voice regarding the question of what it means to live in the EU today. By mirroring these widespread but generally unacknowledged forms of racism, and also highlighting the marginalized history of the persecution of Roma, I want to create possibilities for constructive dialogues about improving the situation for Roma in Europe today." Tibor Balogh
"Tibor Balogh is the first Roma artist to be admitted to, and to have graduated from the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts. Testifying to a full mastery of his art, his diploma piece, a series of copperplates, blends childhood memories of the artist with fragments from another scene of his life, the 8th district of the capital, which has the highest percentage of Roma population in the city, and which gave home to Balogh during his Academy years. After graduation, his first important appearance was at the exhibition at the Mõcsarnok/Kunsthalle, the Hidden Holocaust." (http://universes-in-universe.de/car/venezia/eng/2007/tour/roma/img-05.htm).

He created the work "July 2010" triptych dedicated to this unprecedented event. He is both a charismatic leader with prodigious rhetorical skills and a
deep commitment, continuing his search for truth through contemporary
painting. "

Tania Magy
Tania Magy is a Roma artist and educator who is perhaps best known for her Roma art caravan museum:
"The Caravan museum was founded in 2004 by the visual artist Tania Magy (of the Art’Rom de Voyage non-profit association), in order to introduce the general public to contemporary art by Roma and gypsies. The caravan also encourages a dialogue about the concept of the “minority” and shows the way of life of gypsies, Roma, and other ”travellers”, now and in the past." (http://www.balkantrafik.com/balkan-baazar/).
Magy also holds a PhD in Roma Art and is a doctoral student in Anthropology. As she travels in her caravans she both collects Roma art and artifacts and displays them to the
public wherever her caravan is pitched.
